After Only Two Weeks, An Adoptive Mother Gives A Child Back
Yvette Maguire desperately wanted children. After 18 months of failing to conceive, she and her husband Mark turned to IUI treatments, which failed the couple three times. After IVF treatments also failed, the Maguires decided to turn to adoption. The process was emotionally draining, but the Maguires pressed on. As Yvette recalls, "The entire process is designed to put you off, to frighten you to see if you're 100 per cent committed. But it didn't deter either of us. I was so blinkered that all I could think was: 'I want a baby, I want a baby.'" The couple eventually got their wish: a 2-year-old boy named Ben, who "had been terribly neglected as a baby" was placed in their custody. Yvette finally had the child she always wanted. But then something went wrong: just two weeks after welcoming little Ben into their home, Yvette felt a disconnect from the child, and eventually returned him to the adoption agency as a result.

Sasha Fierce And Her Backup Dancers Are B-rilliant
The highlight of last night's otherwise super-dark SNL was an incredibly silly skit featuring surprise guest Justin Timberlake, who showed up during Weekend Update to apologize for the fact that he had to back out of an upcoming Thanksgiving episode. Timberlake tried to make amends by condensing his best bits into a 2-minute recap, and continued to win over the audience by popping up as a leotard-wearing backup dancer at a "rehearsal" for Beyonce's new video. Watching Timberlake and Beyonce dance around together is hilarious; you almost forget that Timberlake is one of the biggest stars in the world as he dances goofily around Sasha Fierce, who also holds superstar status. The passage of Proposition 8 in California has led comedian Wanda Sykes to be more outspoken about her sexuality. Sykes, who claims that everyone in her personal life is aware that she's gay, felt "attacked" by Proposition 8 and has decided to speak out about her personal life as a result. "You know, I don't really talk about my sexual orientation. I didn't feel like I had to. I was just living my life, not necessarily in the closet, but I was living my life," Sykes says, "Now, I gotta get in their face. I'm proud to be a woman. I'm proud to be a black woman, and I'm proud to be gay."[HuffingtonPost]

Paul Rudd And Andy Samberg Paint A Pretty Insane Picture On SNL
Last night's Saturday Night Live was seriously bizarre, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Taking a fairly dark turn after the Election Mania that gave the show a ton of buzz and a serious bump in the ratings, SNL returned last night with guest host Paul Rudd, putting out a show that was both wacky and terrifying. (As one commenter asked last night, "Did they get a deal on fake blood, or something?") Perhaps the strangest skit of the night was the digital short starring Digital Short Superstar Andy Samberg and Rudd as friends who, you know, just want to paint each other in a seriously NSFW way. Their masterpiece turns out to be not-so-easy on the eyes for everyone else who gets a glimpse, however. NSFW (or for the squeamish) clip, after the jump.

Sorry, Idealists: Racism Doesn't End With Our First Black President
There is no doubt that Barack Obama's victory in the 2008 Presidential election is an incredibly historic one; the race barrier for the top job in the nation has been broken, signifying a giant step forward for the country as a whole. But the notion that Obama's victory signifies some type of end to all racism in America is a ridiculous one; while the country has made progress by electing an African-American leader, there are still signs that many citizens in the country aren't happy with that decision at all. And it's not based on Obama's policies, tax plans, or "elitist" background: it's based on the color of this skin.

The Obamas Share An Election Night Memory
In this extremely sweet clip from tonight's 60 Minutes interview with President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, the Obamas discuss their reaction to the election results, with Michelle Obama describing the moment when it actually hit her that her husband was the next President of the United States: "I remember on the night we watched the returns, on one of the stations Barack's picture came up and it said 'President-elect Barack Obama.' I looked at him and said, 'You are the 44th president of the United States of America. Wow, what a country we live in.'" President-elect Obama just smiles and responds, "How 'bout that?" before bringing up the fact that Michelle also then asked him about taking their daughters, Sasha and Malia, to school the next day. Sam Speaks Out On Lindsay's Behalf
- Samantha Ronson has released a statement on her MySpace page, condemning the flour attack on Lindsay Lohan: "I'm pissed at the bag of flour thrown on Lindsay last night," Ronson writes, "Not because I got powdered down, but because the girl who threw it acted like an animal herself. I take that back, it's an insult to animals to group her in with them, my dog is FAR more civilized than that person. I would have more respect for them if they didn't use other people to get their point across." [Ronson's MySpace]
- Meanwhile, Lindsay's ex-boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, is sticking up for Lindsay's relationship with Ronson: "Samantha has been a very good friend of mine for many years and Lindsay is one of my loves. She's a love of mine that I will always hold very dear to me. Honestly, as long as they're both happy."[ONTD]
- Please don't mess with KANYE WEST: he posted an all-caps entry on his blog in order to explain his arrest for punching a paparazzi late Thursday night, claiming that he put his hand up to cover a paparazzi's lens, and in all the commotion, the camera must have scraped the photographer's nose.
